I whipped up these finger puppets for my nephew who loves the minions. The pattern is super simple and easy. I used 8ply yarn and a 4mm hook. Adjust hook size to either make it smaller or larger depending on your finger size.
– 8ply yarn
– 4mm hook. I used a 4mm but adjust hook size to either make smaller or larger depending on finger size.
– Sewing needle
– Felt (You could so this with yarn if you wanted)
Round 1: 6 sc inside a magic circle (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each stitch around (12)
Round 3 – 9: sc in each stitch around (12)
Round 10: Change to blue yarn and sc around (12)
Round 11: sc in each stitch around (12)
Part one: In black yarn cast on and chain approx 10 then chain one turn and sc in each chain. This will wrap around the body at approx round 4 – 5. Take the tail of each end and pass it with a needle to the inside of the body and tie together. If you need to make it more tight to the body you can add in a few stitches of use glue in a few places.
Part two: With grey yarn chain 10 and then slip stitch to first chain. Chain 1 and then sc 12 times in the loop. Slip stitch in first sc and fasten off sewing in the ends. Attach to the body with the black stripe passing through the middle of the circle. Attach using glue or a few stitches.
Part three: Cut out of felt a small white circle to fit in the grey eye outline and then a small black circle and attach using glue.
stitch with black yarn diagonally across under the right side of the eye at approx 4 rows from the bottom
Thread black yarn through a needle and insert through the top of the body. Do not put a knot in the end of the thread like you usually would! instead thread it through and then knot both end on top of the head twice. Now split the plys of the yarn to make it fuzzy
And you are done!
This guy is the same as above with these differences:
– Use purple and black yarn
– Sew the mouth with white yarn in vertical lines at the first purple row after the black
– Use the same technique for the hair but attach several strands of yarn instead of one.
